Alex Turner es dueño de una voz profunda y suave, una de las mejores voces en una banda de rock de los últimos años y probablemente uno de los escritores con más destreza para hacer baladas rock. Esto es indiscutible cuando llega a tus oidos Love is a laserquest, donde juega con palabras y figuras retoricas para describir un amor, un amor pasado, quizás efímero o eterno, pero sin duda trascendental.
En versión acústica o totalmente instrumentada, Love is a Laserquest es una balada rock agridulce -vaya que se me da recomendarles estas canciones- de acordes menores pero ejecutados de manera reconfortante que muy rara vez te hará sentirte melancólico, la canción como parte de un álbum completo podría parecer superficial e incluso una canción “de relleno” en “Suck it and See” pero, estoy seguro de que si en algún momento el pasado te hace un guiño sobre un amor y estás por la carretera, esta canción será parte de un soundtrack perfecto.
